Taipei Day #4

Today was my first day at my internship. I started by throwing out old pamphlets, brochures, and college resources. They were from the 90’s!!! Even the 80’s! That was so ridiculous. We then updated the online catalogue and shortly after went to lunch. We had some shrimp dumplings and I had jasmine green tea. It was all very yummy. I died the next few hours of work. I was so bored! OMG seriously it was horrible. There isn’t much to do here. So I got off too early on the bus stop but thats ok I guess. I walked a bit. I did Insanity for the first time ever…I DIED! But I felt good. We went to find dinner and had Mos Burger! I got the shredded beef with rice buns :) Amazing.

Taipei Day #3
Today I ventured out on my own. I rode the MRT by myself and took it to the 24 hour bookstore. I was going to buy a book but I thought it was a waste of money. I walked around and now I know how to get to one of the high schools. Two more to go. I ventured around the streets and I found Mos burger a popular japanese rice burger place…Only $2.30 for a cheeseburger! I kept looking around the bakeries and found a good one. I bought a green tea cupcake :) It tasted really good and at the bottom it had kinda like boba jelly. So awesome.

Taipei Day #2

Today was interesting. We started off visiting Lungshan Temple. It was very nice and huge the decor was nice and it’s a very old temple with 3 parts to it. It smelled like incense and people would bring offerings to the temple and place them on tables. We ventured around and I got to buy 4 dumplings for 60 cents! I also went to 85 degrees bakery omg the bread is awesome! Then we went to the costume district where they basically sell souvenirs. I bought paper models of traditional characters which we basically build. I got a good deal on some flats for $6. We visited the Sun Yat Sen Memorioal Hall where they also have a centennial tribute. The guards are very militaristic. I video taped them. The scenery was nice here, very green and open spaced. There was a clown juggling to Shakira music lol! And then we went back to the hotel, then later at night went pub crawling. More like pub ripping us off. We had white russians which cost us about $7 mind you the cup was small and they didn’t even fill it up all the way! Damn ripped off! Whatever -___- Everyone works tomorrow except me so I shall explore the city some more :) By myself omg!

Taiwan Day #1
-It was a lot of fun, besides the fact that I woke up at 6 am and could not go to sleep anymore!
-I went to the paper museum because I had 2 hours until we met with our group. It was really neat, for $6 I saw the museum of paper making and got to make my own paper
-At noon we met up with the local students interning for USC Taiwan office and they all showed us around. Two girls showed me how to get to the main office where I work. It is fairly simple. But I didn’t get to see 2 of the 3 high schools I’m working at so I’m kinda scared about how to get there. These schools are elite. Only top of the top students with rich parents can be admitted lol.
-We then ate lunch at a Vietnamese place and I had beef pho! I also tasted shrimp and chicken salad. They have papaya in it but its a green, thinly shaved, crunchy texture. I also tried coconut milk with red bean and green jelly. It looked the most crazy so I ordered it lol.
-We then walked around and went to go find phones. Luckily the girl showing me around just gave me her spare. I saved $50!!! wohooo. I was taken to see Jiang Juo High School and I had a peek into the 24 hour public bookstore. Its just like barnes & noble but its common for people to just sit around and read books without buying them. It was such a long day! So tired, and its very humid! But its interesting.
-I don’t know what else is to come of this experience but I am excited!
